Minerva's Main Man

I thought that some readers of the blog may like to enjoy reading a short interview I participated in with Learndirect Scotland. I must say that the title of the article was created by Learndirect Scotland and I am in fact the only man at Minerva! http://www.providercentral.org.uk/CaseStudies/MinervaPeople.aspx This article demonstrates the complexity of running any business that relies on websites that need to be updated. We are fortunate that in some cases we are able to use one piece of software that populates many websites with the same information. In our industry website marketing is extremely important due to people using ...read more

Pitman Training

Tricia and I recently attended a meeting with the other Pitman Training Centre owners around Scotland and the Pitman Training Group Board of Directors. The reason for the meeting was to discuss the future of Pitman Training in Scotland and share ideas. We were all very positive about what the future holds. Like any other business we need to plan for the future and develop ideas that will keep the oganisation progressing. There are so many routes towards training and gaining qualifications that we need to be able to identify what makes us unique to the many other training ...read more

Supervisor Development

As part of Anna's ongoing training and development as the new Pitman Training Supervisor at Minerva we travelled to Wetherby for some specific training. Wetherby is the location of the Head Office for Pitman Training Group. This was a great opportunity for Anna to meet colleagues that can provide support and advice to her and also to put a face to the names that she has emailed or phoned. I personally feel that once you have met someone in person it is much easier to create a positive relationship. It therefore makes communicating easier as you know who ...read more

A photographer has been booked to attend to allow us to take fantastic group photos and also give everyone the opportunity to have their own photos taken by a professional. A buffet lunch will be provided for all to enjoy and this gives you a great chance to ...read more

Expecting a baby

Over the next couple of weeks the blog will change slightly due to my colleague Susan taking over responsibility for updating you with interesting news at Minerva. The reason for this is that my wife and I are expecting the birth of our first child any day now so I will be devoting all my time to this special event. When I'm back in December you may see me sleeping at my desk from time to time, so please give me a little nudge if I appear to be catching up on lost sleep. I look forward to updating ...read more
